The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has warned corps members to avoid embarking on unwarranted and unofficial trips during their service year.
Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim said this at the weekend during a chat he had with corps members who were present at the official coronation and presentation of Staff of Office to the 12th Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril.
He said: “My dear children in the national service, it has become alarming that some of you embark on journeys which ordinarily you should not be involved in. This is to prevent avoidable accident and death during service.”
The one-time Commandant, Command Secondary School Suleja and Registrar, Nigerian Army University Biu, charged the corps members to take their personal security with utmost concern.
NYSC has given you printed documents that contain the names and contact of all security agencies within your Local Government of service.
Do not leave your places of primary assignment or your location which you reside without letting your colleagues know about your whereabouts and also endeavour to inform your friends about where you are at all times.
“Please get in touch with any of the agencies in case of any challenge. On our part, we shall continue to make your welfare protected and untouched” he added.
